Quote - The oldest Flash Gordon I remember was a black-and-white serial (honestly, before even my time), with someone named Buster Crabbe (could I make that up?...;) or...I think it is.
Buster Crabbe was a two time Olympic medal winner in swimming. Best known for his portrayal of Flash Gordon in 3 serials in the 1930's. He also portrayed Tarzan and Buck Rogers. In the serials, Ming the Merciless was played by Charles Middleton. There was no eviler, more vile, villan than Charles Middleton as Ming. The Flash Gordon serials were inspirations to George Lucas for Star Wars. In fact Lucas duplicated many of the camera effects used to change scenes in the serials in Star Wars. The Flash Gordon serials were "space opera" at it's best. I encourage anyone that is a fan of scifi adventure to see them.
It's all fun and games...
Until the flying monkeys attack!!!
