If what you're looking for is first and foremost a modeler, and if $895 isn't too bad of a hit to your budget -- then I'd strongly recommend going with Modo. Silo I can't address, because I am not familiar with it.
If you're looking for animation tools, etc. -- then Lightwave or C4D. But you aren't going to get into those for under $500
