In Poser 7 you can edit your hot-keys by editing the c:Program Filese frountierposer 7runtimeuiPoser.xrc (note every SR so far has updated this file so if you customize it you will need to redo it after installing any of the SRs currently out)

and (in Poser 7) you can select items by right clicking and the first flyout of the pop up menu is "select" where it lists everything under your cursor.
