i completely understand the aggravation, and sympathise. I'll be going through this again here soon when my new computer (finally) arrives and i have to remove vue from hubby's laptop and switch everything to the new monster.
hoping like heck that "magic code" doesn't change LOL.
y'know, i had a similar problem once with a different website (no, they never resolved it - and i dropped it, because to me a few minor updates for a stupid game wasn't worth the hassle) - but i had bought the sims deluxe, went to register it - and it swore up and down it was already registered. as i had JUST purchased it at walmart, had the receipt in my hand, the plastic wrapping still sitting on my desk - i, too, went "HUH??????"
What one representative FINALLY told me is that some people are VERY unscrupulous, and will (try to) register software that is actually pirated - but using an actual valid code (or one that appears valid to the website)... if that happens and someone else happens to try to register a legit (legal) copy with that same code, of course it'll say it's already used and isn't legitimate, please supply another.
It hasn't solved YOUR problem, but maybe with a bit of insight into HOW something like this COULD happen....
hmmm.... i wonder how possible it is.... i'm assuming this is one of the nodelocked versions?
Does anyone know if uninstalling & reinstalling will change that code??
the code follows some kind of algorithm, otherwise you'd find the blasted thing buried somewhere on the cd.....
how possible is it for two different machines, two different times, to come up with the same code - IF it's generated on an "as its installed" basis? (did that make sense?)
sorry, i tend to think out loud (or in this case, my fingers are doin the talkin)
and i have to applaud you for learning bryce =D thats one of a few programs i really couldn't wrap my mind around no matter how hard i tried. oddly enough, the little bit of playing i did in bryce helped me start figuring out vue. go figure. chuckles
back to this, though...
anyone else have any ideas?
EDIT: Wait a sec.... you said the e-on site goes down about this time every day?? i'm assuming as we're writing these posts you cannot connect to the site? because if this is the case - they are wrong. the site might go down for updates & stuff, but i have NEVER had a problem connecting to it at this time of day. Or later, for that matter. and considering the fact that i'm an insomniac and for about 3 months straight before i got the power bundle i was at the site every day (and most of the nights) drooling over infinite (one day.... one day....)....
(and ive only had esprit since october - i REALLY dont think their schedule would have changed all THAT much in a few months)
Rarer than a hairy egg and madder than a box of frogs....
