I suppose that what you get is the "advanced material editor", if so, in the upper right corner of the window, click on "basic material editor", and you will switch to the basic editor. When you are in the basic mat ecitor, the same box will be there, but this time saying "advanced material editor", so you get in the advanced editor with one click.
