I've been working on this program off and on for a while and its still deep in beta mode but it will convert material files into mat pose files. You can do a single file or batch convert a directory. It will also read compressed or uncompressed files.  There is an option to save as a compressed file but that doesnt work just yet. Its written in java so if you have a current version of the java runtime it will work.
