There was a thread recently where someone had joined a horse and human torso to make a centaur. IIRC it was done by replacing some parts and then using the morph brush to massage the 2 meshes together. Try searching for the thread.

And yes in a modeller you can go as nuts as you want, but i'm not sure you are legally allowed to modify poser meshes that way.
