Super fine is necessary for soft shadows and really long render times...LOL...it really depends on the image as I use a variety of settings myself...more opinions to come no doubt.. ...

 

Once in a while I look around,
I see a sound
and try to write it down
Sometimes they come out very soft
Tinkling light sound
The Sun comes up again
