Trepz - Thanks for the guides. I have both Vista Ultimate and XP on my machines. What I call my Vista machine has Vista 32 and XP 64 in a dual boot. I added the XP 64 to speed up Vue. My other machine has XP 32. Both machines have 4 gig because at one time I was going to have them both be 64 bit machines, but it never materialized. I don't have any trouble with Vista at all. I run in Administrator mode. What I don't like is that even in Admin mode, some files and folders aren't accessible unless I go in and change the security, etc. This is a pain. At one point I had access to all, then suddenly it changed. My guess is an update changed that. My UAC was checked, but I unchecked it. However, aside from that, i have never had a problem.
From reading and listening, I think that older machines and / or older programs or components mess up how Vista works. Most of my stuff is relatively new since I review so much. When I loaded Vista, I was careful what I put on. When I go for my next machine it will have Vista 64 Ultimate on it, but that will be down the road. However, it will have to be dual boot because some of my perifierals, my film scanner, Nikon SuperCool Scanner 5000 ED, will not run on any form of Vista. So far Nikon has no plans to update it so that it will work on Vista. I have no nice words for that. .
Sorry, Lyne, you are having so many problems. I have been there and done that and its no fun.
