DAZ (Digital Art Zone) is the company name. They're in Utah and make 3D models and also let otehr artists sell their 3D models there. They are the creators of the very popular models for Poser called Victoria and Michael.

DAZ also has a few pieces of software they own, eitehr by acquisition or having developed themselves. They have acquired Bryce and Carrara. The have developed DAZ Studio, a Poser alternative. DAZ also has had some lip synching softare as a plugin for Lightwave.

When people talk about Daz sometimes they really mean the program Daz studio, not Daz the company. Confusing indeed.
