I am absolutely not going to start this one but I will give you the suggestion of writing a couple of rhyming lines.  Next poster follows the meter and puts their own context.

Has to be something to do with Poser or 3d in general (broad enough for ya?)

Structure wise, I'll try to impose my own preferences, which are:

Verse
Verse
Chorus (or as they used to call it, "refrain")
Verse
Chorus
Middle 8 (or 16, we ain't fussy)
Verse
Chorus
Verse
Chorus
Chorus
Coda

Now, go on, have a go.  It may even get yer creativity running.

You know the verse does not have to rhyme perfect or even.

Pime example would be The Smiths.

Did you know that you can sing sonnets to the tune of Stairway to Heaven? There's a Vicky whose tits age will ne'er sag, For her body is shaped by her digits. Whatever the pose, her face will not change, As none will pay more for the morph-set. Ooh, ooh, and she's posed in a skimpy bikini!

Tashar59 ( ) posted Thu, 31 January 2008 at 1:52 AM

Funny.

Reminds me of a friend that works at an axe shop. The 2 most hated songs are,  "Stairway to Heaven," and "Smoke on the Water." Just about every person that tried an axe, would try to play those 2 songs. LOL.

Try adding, " Out behind the barn," after the title of a song. Makes forsome intersting phrases.

AntoniaTiger ( ) posted Thu, 31 January 2008 at 2:13 AM

Yes, I know the reputation of StH. A lot of commercial songs have pretty simple basic structures. Which is why that Australian Beatles tribute band was able to make StH sounds as if it were an early Beatles number. Youtube video of Stairway to Heaven, by the Beatles?

Tashar59 ( ) posted Thu, 31 January 2008 at 2:26 AM

Simple structures are what sells. Also easier for the laymen to follow. Make it to complicated and the majority of listeners will lose interest fast.

Simple with taste and you have a classic. on your hands. Not easy to do though.

Both songs are banned at most guitar shops.

From my own experience, the best thing to play when trying out a guitar or amp is "Eruption".  That usually gets attention.  In fact, it's even better if you play it half out of tune.

Most of my own songs don't rhyme.  For the purposes of this though, I thought it would be good to impose a few "restrictions", since we Poser types are used to dealing with unreasonable limits.

Dead spots?  Ah, you must be a bass player with a Precision.  Saying that, I always find the P Bass dead spots work well if you mix the thing right.  Go further up the neck in a pre chorus and it goes quieter, quieter, quieter, quieter, FUCKING LOUD.

Les Pauls and maple board Strats do not suffer from these problems in my experience.

Nope , guitars, Any rosewood fret board can have a dead spot. It happens. Not common, but happens. thus the need to make sure. I had a guitar maker explain to me that is has to do with grains and glue.

My 40th annivesary Strat is rosewood fret board, not maple, midnight wine. My 72 Les Paul is fine. I don't have my Amercan Strat with a maple neck anymore. I can only play one axe at a time anyways. LOL

I never really had dead spots on my old SG Bass (1 4"x2" pickup with a bottom so low, it would shake people's digestion...;), but my Ibanez had 2 pickups per string. Now 2 of my strings don't work, and I'm limited to playing Morphine...;)

SG basses didn't have an individual dead spot, as I recall.  The whole of the neck was a dead spot.  IMO, Gibson cannot make basses, in the same way as Japanese manufacturers cannot make speakers, Germans cannot make ice cream, Americans cannot make cars and we Brits cannot make.. erm... Oh, I really can't imagine.

I seldom get into music stores anymore, but, for me, it seems that "Little Wing" or Blind Faith's acoustic version of "Can't Find My Way Home" are attention getter's.
I had to quit playing bars here around Tulsa back in the '90's, due to a taste for bourbon whiskey, and only play for my own enjoyment now. Currently play a '72 reissue Byrdland and my favorite, a '79 ES-347 (the Gibson most guitar players have never seen). :) The 347 is completely original with the brass nut and Gibson DirtyFingers pickups with series/parallel switch.
I usually don't post much, but I had to smile at the "music store" songs and really enjoy reading the guitar posts.

Tashar59 ( ) posted Fri, 01 February 2008 at 2:44 PM

Didn't Mark Knopfler use one? Can't remember, might have been a 335. Been a long time ago when I was at one of his concerts.

My 72 LP has been very good to me. I bought it new in 72, my first new axe, so it's not going anywhere. Loved my Amarican Standard with the maple neck but I sold that and my 68 SG not long ago. Blew my hand apart playing football and was told I would never play again. Proved them wrong but 20 years later, artheritis makes it a bit hard now. I play for myself now or jam with the old group once a month. Write and play for my animations. Just hurts to much after a couple of songs.

bevans84 ( ) posted Fri, 01 February 2008 at 4:41 PM

Knopfler is great.
You could be right, the 347 is very similar to the 335, with the main difference being the coil-tap switch. I tried googling it, but couldn't find anything with him and a 347.
My first guitar was a '62 Strat that I bought in '64. I let my little brother take it to Tucson in the early '70's and never saw it again. He passed a couple of years ago, and when I was there to help settle his estate I couldn't find it anywhere. His friends told me that he'd sold it to Bonnie Raitt, but he was pretty good at spreading BS, so it might be true and might not.
If it is true, I guess my old Strat has a good home. :-)
Sometimes I get a little nostalgic when I think of all those '60's and '70's Strats, Tele's, and Gibsons we bought, sold, and traded.

Tashar59 ( ) posted Fri, 01 February 2008 at 5:17 PM

That makes you older than me. I remember the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show in 64. I was 5. LOL That is also when I became a rocker.

Nostalgic indeed. A little trivia. I was born the day the music died.

ST:

This sounds interesting. I cannot play a guitar; my fingers do not do what I want them to do.

Wrting verse is hard work. I'm certain you know this, so forgive me if this seems too trite,

A window, which I look through fresh,
     For my imagination,
Where schemes and themes, and often dreams,
     Appear as my creation.
With texture, form, and colors bright,
I shape my thoughts in shade and light,
And show myself what I conceive
     In deep-felt fascination.

That isn't too Spenserian is it?

So I took a little break cause I had all that I could take
Her but was like a balloon and her boobys looked fake
and her hair looked like it was combed with garden rake.

(then back to the hard rock chorus)

Poser, Poser,

I'm gonna let it finish if it's my computer's fate.

(the chorus)

The render is all through after long anticipation

I'm sure you all know the tune to this one:

Oh baby, baby,
Oh baby, baby,
Oh baby, baby
Where did all the textures go?
Now everything is white here.
Oh baby, baby
Why does it all run so slow?
This really can't be right, no.

Memory for this PZ3
Running out again
Cause I know I need a lot more.

This Poser scene is killing me
I must confess, I do believe
While I sit here I lose my mind
Wasting my time!
Render baby, one more time.

Oh baby, baby
I just haven't got a clue
I really get frustrated.
Oh baby, baby,
I'll break the scene up in two
But that's not the way I planned it.

Listen to the poor HD
Gonna blow it up again.
Cause I know the scene's too big.

This Poser scene is killing me
I must confess, I do believe
While I sit here I lose my mind
Wasting my time!

Assembled 'till they please the view,
Then rearranged to tease anew,
The figures, props, and scenes surprise,
And set my fancy free.

The whole globe is my theater,

Where actors strut upon the stage

Even though it's no longer Christmas, I couldn't resist doing this one.  I'm sure you will know the tune:

Vicky the DAZ girl
Was a great big memory hog
When you loaded her in a Poser scene
It would run just like a dog.

Vicky the DAZ girl
Was a great idea, they said
But by the time your render finished off
It's for sure that you'd be dead.

There must have been some serious drugs
That the team were passing round
Cause when you loaded Vicky up
It would bring your system down.

Vicky the DAZ girl
Ate up most of your hard drive
But if you think that's bad just you wait and see
What they do with Vicky 5.

And I just know it has to be mine.

Have you heard of the new Aiko 4?
That's something I will have to buy.
A new wardrobe, some hair and some shoes.
Can't buy food so I'm going to die.

Have you seen the new Poser Pro?

I had the chance to live through the hippy generation(John Lennon and the rest of 'em) when they posed nude on the album covers with long shaggy hair and people thought it was so cool. Most of them are dead now. Then Disco, then the urban cowboy era, then New Wave and then Rap. I don't know is Hip Hop dead yet? Wait until tomorrow.

The hot star today will be the one they make fun of tomorrow, I remember they were making fun of Elvis and thought he was a has been right before he died. The music never dies though really,  just the people who make it.

I just can't wait to see a 60 or 70 year old dude listening to Rap and Hip Hop and gettin' down to his generations music. Should be funny. I can live with mine.

There were a few I never figured would live long and have surpassed my expectations. People seem to remember the ones that didn't the most. I wonder why that is.  Most of there reasons were not that glamorous or mysterious and had they performed dry would they have been as good? Walon wrote " Working Without A Net". There, a country title.

Tashar59 ( ) posted Mon, 04 February 2008 at 2:48 AM

Walon Jennings is the one that traded places with Richie Valens on the plane on the day the music died.

dogor ( ) posted Mon, 04 February 2008 at 4:30 PM

What? Jennings traded seats with J.P. Richardson "The Big Bopper" who according to Wikipedia pleaded with Jennings for his seat because he had the flu.

Valens won Tommy Allsup's seat after a coin toss.

The day the music supposedly died. Hey, I'm with you though, what if they had survived who knows.
