Instead of using those silly and slow dials like in poser, you do things much more directly in Carrara 6. Simply select the body part you want to move, then go to the rotate control (or the move/translate control if the part is at the end of an IK chain) an then grab the control handles and move the part however you wish, though usually there are limits set. It works much faster, move much more fluidly, and subtly. I found that worrying to much about numbers (is that 70 degrees? 75? 72?) that is made posing very robotic . Now I just bend and arm and a shoulder, grab a hand or foot, and place them were I wish.
You actually can do this in Poser as well using the direct manipulator tool, but poser doesn't move fluidly enough for it to be practical.
