It depends on how much time I have and how lazy I am feeling on whether I use the Injection Pose builder or edit by hand in a text editor to make the injections once have the character set to how I want them.
I have DS but I hate the interface so I un-installed it, so I am not familiar with how it handles Poser files but it seems to me if the directory structures aren't that different then grabbing the tool package wouldn't be a bad idea. If you can maybe contact the vendor and ask if the package is suitable for use with DS.

The difference is just that :1 on the end of where it says actor, I'm almost certain that is what's causing the pz2 not to load, the bad news is there's an actor line for each body part that is effected by the pz2 so you'd have to go through the file & add :1 to the end of each line, the good news is it shouldn't take more than 5 minutes ;)
It might make a difference but I don't have the numbers in my inj poses and I have seen other character injections that don't use it either.
