Thanks Phil.  Well, I tried unparenting and it looked like it was going to work...the Scale dials were actually working, but when I parented it back to the figure's head, it 'shrank' back to the original unfitted mess.  :(

Someone over at DAZ (who also has this hair) just posted that they're experiencing the exact same problem, and said that it is indeed 'broken'.  A ticket is being sent to customer support to get it fixed.
