Subject: laser flower..any idea how they be done??

Okay, here's what I've managed to get with the chrysanthemum Flower, or possibly a large dahlia - not sure...

I did a bit of smoothing in Wings with the model first since originally it rendered a bit blockily.

This is the result:^^^
