Hi Sigma dog,
I made the same mistake as my daughter, she also took a irish setter for a daschhund, but I think morphologic they are the same. Before we had the corgy we had a belgian sheepdog and the daschhund, when the sheepdog died two years ago the whole family was in mourning, but especially the daschhund , because the sheppard was his big girlfriend. I was really sorry for him so I bought the Corgy, who looked like a walking teddybear when he was young, very adorable. It was a big surprise to us that he was longhaired, which is rather rare for corgies, but makes him very special, besides that he is a complete nutcase.
Regards,
Bopper.
PS. Connie, my dogs are very cat-friendly, we have also two cats, and that goes very well together.
