Not that it's causing your problems but 2GB isn't enough for complex scenes.

I don't know, but 2GB is the most I have on any of my WinXP computers, and I've never had any problems. Just rendered a 65 million poly scene last week.

Besides, I was under the impression 2GB is the most you can use in a WinXP 32-bit machine.

Certainly for some, upgrading to a 64-bit system with 8GB Ram would seem to help.

Another point, I've seen in other threads where Vue isn't too fond of the ATI OpenGL implementation. The NVidia cards seem to do better. That said, I have no idea why Vue would crash while on the main disk, but not on an external disk, unless:

  1. The main disk was full or closed to it;
  2. The main disk wasn't stable.
