Yeah well, these models are so very basic that I've been searching for internet reference images to improve them before daring to show anyone.
Will get back to you on that.
Thanks for the info on your method, I'd never have thought to look at the Bryce objects for a spiral.
(I used your step 7 to convert a charcoal sketch on white to a silhouette of a dancer in pale yellow on black - for a short animation for Uni - it's a nice simple method)
