Yeah I do love fantasy art,  just an eensy weensy wee bit ;)

I'll always rememebr one of the Dragonlance pics, with a flying castle..wow, back then that was just SO damned new and unexpected, amazing :)

Tempted to get those pdfs as well. So much beautiful art.

Aye that pic by Elmore sums up D&D to me, and it's very lively and exhuberant, without being over blown or too rich in colour...just perfect.

had to sell/give away lot of my D&D collection, no room for it any more, sigh :(
Doubt anyone here is interested, but anyone who can get to near Glasgow, Scotland, is welcome, free to almost my entire collection of Dragon Magazines, and other (A)D&D stuff.
Got no kids to leave it to, so really DON'T want to have to throw it in the bin :(
(and sorry can't afford to post it to folks, weighs a ton)

Gave my cousin my really good stuff to sell off on EBay: Queen of the Demon Web pits, Against the giants series etc. Did not like having to part with 'em, but oh well.

So just keeping really good and special stuff. Eventually will need ot get rid of 3rd ed library too as I switch over to 4th ed.

Back to D&D artists :)

I didn't like DeTerlizzi, most of his work was so anaemic and ridiculously skinny. Looked like concentration camp victims made of pastels, not dangerous evil beasties ;)

Brom was amazing for Dark Sun, gave it a truly alien feel, which is great.

Such a damned shame that Keith Parkinson died, ugh. he had a fantastic precision, showing arms and armour of with great realism that must have been very hard to do.

Clyde Caldwell does amazing stuff with gems and metal in his work.

Also liked lot of the B&W sketches in the old manuals, the Fiend Folio had some great ones, like the drow and the huge full page of the man fighting a lizard king.

Ravenloft and Spelljammer had some great art for them.

Ack! I just read Angus McBride died last year, nuts!! :(
David Gemmell...Arthurt C Clarke...Robert jordan...Keith Parkinson....all the greats, passing....

sighs, but it's still filled with happy nostalgia, too :)
