I keep hearing that Poser Pro will have Normal support, but I can;t say that I followed what they are announcing very closely.

In the past, I've plugged normal maps into a bump or displacement channel, sometimes you get results as if you plugged in a grayscale bump map, sometimes you don't. Then again, not all normal maps are created equal. Sometimes normal maps represent just the angle of the face, other times they include surface height information. (To put it in a somewhat simplistic way)
