I'm up and getting ready to take Chynna to the vet. Because she is older she needs 24 hours of IV hydration in order to help preserve her kidneys. Her kidneys aren't working 100% optimal, but she isn't in failure. Unfortunately one of the risks for older cats having surgery is that their kidneys can worsen. The vet is taking every precaution he can to help minimalize that risk. Her actual surgery is tomorrow. I'll let you all know how things go.
Hopefully she will be back home with me on Wednesday unless they keep her another night, which I don't think would be a bad idea. I'll have to give her injections for the morphine and antibiotics (she doesn't take pills well) for a few days and help her eat with a syringe, but then hopefully she will be able to eat on her own by the end of the weekend!
