That works! Simple. That's sooooo much better. The next thing I dont' know how to do is make the shade darker. I added a Color Math node to the Blender (Input 2) , attached that to the head tex and then fussed around with the colors. Changed them but wasn't able to get a dark red.

I have to take a break, walk the doggie, then see if I can slog this out.
