As far as I understand it, Carbon was a band-aid solution to bring pre-existing apps into OS X and make them look like the rest of them. Apple really wanted everyone to write in Cocoa...

As far as bootcamp goes... since I have xStream I'm moving my Cinema 4D license to Mac, so it's not going to do me a lot of good to dual boot. :(
