Subject: Poser 7 render problem in Vista

I just recently installed Windows Vista Ultimate after waiting till SP1 came out. I'm thrilled how faster it is versus XP and even in Poser you render faster .

My only problem is...on the end it doesn't stop after the render is finished. Does anybody has or had the same problem in the past and know how to resolve this problem ??

Does it always do this? have you tried rendering something very simple at low resolution?  does it ever complete under any circumstances?  I vaguely recall something to do with a personal firewall blocking network access and causing a symptom like this.

I did not tried to render something simple but I'll do this to check it out . I never had in XP any problems with firewall or something else :(

I just tried something very simple without any texture and it does not complete at all. The render is done but it does not complete it :(

Try opening Poser7... Put a simple box in frame,, hit "delete object" and see if you freeze.

Gareee ( ) posted Wed, 30 April 2008 at 6:53 PM

Did you install all the poser 7 patches?

Online Now!

Mine does that ...  It freezes on every pop-up window until I delete all the folders in the AppData section.  Of course, that means a resetting of the prefs...  Really sucks, too.

Dunno what it is but still does not complete the render at all and it really sucks :(

Poser 7 is on sr3. Typically you don;t need to install the previous patches, just the final one.

Hope this is of help. Just did a few reinstalls myself. Download the latest videodriver and put it where you can find it easily (with the SR and Registration#). Then run it over your latest Poser install and let it reboot from dos. Open Poser and test the box/delete,,, if it still freezes... You may have to consider a reinstall. Do you use External Runtimes? Structure a file to save your Runtime and content somewhere else (if you have not already). Keep a note that you must install Poser7 and have registration ready on 1st bootup (With no SRs installed yet) You must be careful to get all the hidden data and pref files after you deinstall... C/DocumentsandSettings/(you)user/Aplication Data/Poser7 C/Program Files/eFrontier/Poser 7/(delete all but ASIFONT.FON) ..and sometimes,, Desktop/RUN/type.. regedit ..hit ok/HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/e frontier, Inc (expand delete) I would run the driver.. Always do a complete reboot. Trick is,, is to get Poser to open without a search so,, copy !DAZ folder and Python scripts to main Runtime 1st. Then open Poser with Registration ready(copy/paste)and link to your Runtimes,, click on them and let Poser scan them all. Then hit prefered state and restart Poser to the prefered state. Now test the delete/box or Simon As far as the SRs are concerned,, I'd work your way up in the beginning. SR2.1 causes this infinite loop in my pc where nothing finishes. Just like yours. Run the video driver to break a cycle should it happen again. Not sure why this helps but it does.

You may also want to contact EF/Smith Micro for some support, if you're still stuck.

Hi there,
I had this issue with Vista.
Try this, it worked for me
Render/Render Settings/ Preview
Select ScreeD
You can also try turning of enable hardware shading
Save the settings and close Poser.
Relaunch and try a simple render

For me the problem seemed to be when Poser releases the render engine and the tries to display the render in the interface. Turning of openGL seemed to fix the issue.

Hope this helps
Cheers

And if you have to turn off opengl, that points right at video driver issues. Both ati AND nvidia have opengl issues with thier latest drivers.

Well, there a ton of things that don't work in DS, and that changes from version to version. It appears even jcm don't even work in the latest Ds, and many peopel switched back to earlier versions after the recent release.

Maybe I should reinstall Vue6 and transfer everything to Vue and render there ;) Might be the best choice I think !

I had the same problem you did after installing SP3 for XP pro Poser 7 would hang when deleting something and would never complete a render. Apparently  wetting the settings to factory preset under edit does the job. (at least after doing that I was able to successfully delete a light and render a simple scene)

Try turning off "threaded optimization" in your video card settings.
