Hi Studio folk

I just got in and saw the news... Version 2.1.1.1.13 is available for download (and it is still free! LOL) I haven't looked at it yet-still downloading- but it seems to have a whole lot of new things that will add to its power.

Enjoy,
Vincent

yeah it installs really fast compared to 1.8 and 2.0 but a warning you will have to change the settings back to what you had them at with the new quickstart feature being the default startup for 2.1haven't explored it too much but i like the quicker loads of content i found it has

I am thinking about upgrading from 1.8.2.1.  My content is all over the place.  When 2point whatever is installed, does it delete content in the DAZ Studio directory?  Will I have to re-install Vicky 4.2 pro pack?
It gives me nightmares just thinking about doing the upgrade......

No, the only potential issue is that the free Victoria 4EZ may confuse Victoria 4.2 but rerunning the initialisation scripts for V4 and V4 to V3 should fix that if it happens.

Thanks, it's useful to know that.  I'll set aside a day for it .  Just need courage.

Hey Everone! There are many things about the new version I like, but whenever I put in a new item, I have to scan for new files. This takes forever! Am I doing something wrong or is that just how its done?

TheHalfdragon ( ) posted Wed, 07 May 2008 at 10:44 PM

with this new version it seems to be the way it's done for cataloging purposes i guess.  i have a newer type question though i have shaders and shader presets that are for daz that are not showing up in my content lists 0_o how do i get them to show up now or do i have to uninstall it allll again and figure it out from there?

You can switch to seeing how files are stored on your disc, rather than using the database, from the Content palette option menu (the triangle button at top-right of the palette). The View fodlers as... options are the old way, showing the folder structure you installed to, while the View categories as... options are the database system.

Thanks for the tips!

thnx RHaseltine i'll try finding a way that i can see them all

quarterscot ( ) posted Thu, 08 May 2008 at 4:49 PM

Downloaded it. Installed it. None of my contents worked on it. Something to do with my graphics card not being hi-tec enough, as far as I can see. So a warning: it may not work if your computer's more than 2 years old. Kicked the damn thing off and re-installed good old 1.4.16.0, which always served my needs anyway.

Audierne ( ) posted Thu, 08 May 2008 at 5:02 PM

The more I read, the less keen I am to update.  It took days to get 1.8.2.1 or whatever running along with setting up the contents and understanding its foibles.  The idea of going through that again is too just too much.   I'm beginning to get tempted by the idea of Poser - the problem I have now is that Poser 4 has stopped working in Vista, don't know why.  Spring has arrived and the outside world is far more tempting than endless bog-eyed frustration........

Gooutside and smell some flowers. 3D will still be here when you come back. 😉

FranOnTheEdge ( ) posted Fri, 09 May 2008 at 9:49 AM

Can you change where content is filed?  like Aiko is in uncatalogued and it would be nice if she joined the free V4 in "People" - ditto all the other figures.

Is that possible?

You can rearramge the categories, or you can revert to the old system of seeing how stuff is stored on the disc (to do that go to the Content palette option menu, the triangle button at top-right of the palette, and select one of the View folders as options)

k RHaseltine i tried that and the shaders and scripts folders still arent showing up in my content section hhmmmmmmmmmm i'm thinkin i have to uninstall and re-install again and remove anything to do with daz off pc so have new search parameters
