On Mac Gamma....
1.4 and 1.8 are for Print.
2.2 is for TV and Web.
To Change your gamma setting in OSX, go to:
Finder:System Preferences:Display Menu. Select "Color", then the Calibrate button. Follow the instructions for Calibrating.
p.s. there is difference between CRT and LED displays. LED is brighter.
