Can anyone help with this, please? The linked image (a straight on shot with two mirrors, which I did just to illustrate the problem) shows Rhiannon's Elsa Wylde with a pose applied that makes her skirts transparent. Only when I come to render, this is the result. I have tried all sorts of things in the material room, even completely deleting the image map connection for the skirt and manually setting its transparencies to 1, but it still comes out like this. Does anyone have any ideas what is causing this, please? Thank you! Izi

It appears that you may still have the "Specular" and/or "Highlight" options adding to the render.
Make sure those parameters are BLACK and set to zero (0), also, and see if that helps.

If there is a pose that is supposed to make them tranparent I would contact the vendor and ask them what the problem might be.

Thank you Marque, you are right, and I have just done that!
I have seen renders where this works fine, so it must be me. But hopefully the vendor will be able to point me in the right direction.
Thanks to Dr Geep too, I'll try those things in the meantime.

Hi Izi ... sent you an IM.  :-)

Just to round this off, the strange 'shadows' of the invisible skirt (and top) parts were caused by the ambient occlusion I was using with my single IBL light. As I wanted AO in my piccie, the answer was simply to make the skirt and top invisible to raytracing, and - poof! - AO shadows done gone.
There were no shadows at the default render settings, as raytracing is switched off, so no AO.
Thanks to Rhiannon (vendor) for a prod in the right direction!

Hee hee - silly me! I redid the render with the two mirrors, and of course her reflection is starkers now! Oh well, she might as well join the rest of the gang and rip everything off anyway.

Or I'll just forget about using a combination of AO, invisible clothing parts, and reflections. sigh the limitations we artists have to endure.

Stop sniggering.
