The blue box has AO in the material.
In front of it are two squares. The red one has no transparency on it. The white one has transparency connected to a white node - meaning it is 100% opaque, same as the red one.
But it creates no AO effect on the blue box.
Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)
