svdl, but what about everyone else. ;) My boot drive has 330,000 files on it and data drive has 490,000 files. Probably 50,000 folders between them. And I consider this moderate. Someone with 10 drives with 1,000,000 files on each is going to take a long time - at least in respect of finding references. Drive speed matters but so does the number of files. Windows is notoriously slow when dealing with many, many files. MacOS is much better in this regard.
C makes it easy to shoot yourself in the
foot. C++ makes it harder, but when you do, you blow your whole leg
off.
