Polygonal modeling reached it's apex 9 years ago. Polygonal is resource intensive and because of co-planar polys lends itself to artifacts in renders. The industry standard now is Sub-D. here's an example of Sub-D modeling. This the start of the hellbike all sub-d and only fourth of the poly count. Unfortunately, Poser content is polygonal.
