Subject: Grrrrr. I knew I should not have......P7Pro

Willber ( ) posted Tue, 03 June 2008 at 8:25 PM · edited Fri, 29 November 2024 at 1:45 PM

Well I ponied up for P7Pro, installed it on a separate drive from P7 and it seemed to work OK.

Noticed some odd selection issues like the Render preview screen snapping back to Preview mode, camera Icon pointer staying as an arrow instead of the circular arrow.

Rendered a few scenes new and old to see what was up....at the end  I noticed that a single character started to bend at the abdomen after clicking on it… all by it's self......!

Had enough for the night and shut it down.

Well today....it's all bad. Loads but really can't do anything. Selecting menus, they drop down but do not activate the command. Basically nothing works.
Thought I'd check P7, same damn thing. They are both trashed. Reload P7Pro, same thing.
Removed it and tried P7 again, same again.
Guess what, P6 works. What a joke.
Before I contact SM,
Anyone have this bad experience...I don't know where t go from this point on.......ahhhhhhhhhh

Someone else was having the same problems until they defraged thier computer, then it all worked.

This is a wild guess, but is there any chance you're using a 3dconnexion SpaceNavigator or Space Mouse that lost its calibration?

Thanks for the replys my friends.....Defraged not that long ago and yes I do have the 3dconnexion mouse however I was not using it during testing.
I'll disconnect it and see.....great mouse for Google Earth....!
I'm still scratching my head over this one. P7 and P7Pro in two different drives and yet Pro seems to have slammed P7.
Gee I checked P5 and it still works as does P6.
I have removed P7Pro using Windows remove.
Took a chance and re updated P7 with SR2_1, no go.
My next step is to reload P7 from the start.
Thanks for any help.

Well...guess what, stewer hit a home run. Disconnected the 3dConnexion and now P7 works.....
Crossing my fingers....off to load P7Pro.....again.
Thanks guys. I'll let you know how P7Pro goes.

that was it....P7Pro now responding to my commands......

Now to figure out what went wrong with the 3dConnexion mouse. Works in other programs but never used for Poser....more head scratching coming....I'll leave it disconected for now.
Thanks stewer for pointing me in the right direction....gotta love this community.

I wouldn't blame the mouse first.  I'm using regular Poser 7 on a x64 machine too (in 32bit mode) and I'm still having render issues.

It's not you.  It's not your mouse.  It's Poser.

I actually uninstalled my 3Dconnexion mouse because it was causing problems in other programs after I updated the drivers. Going to have to find the original CD and re-install it. Had used it in Poser 7 but not Poser Pro.

Try selecting 'calibrate' in the 3dconnexion control panel (with the 3d mouse plugged in).

Yep, I went for Poser Pro when it was released and I haven't launched it for several weeks now: there are too many minor glitches for it to be worth using. Some of these are just stupid, silly mistakes that should have been picked up at the alpha or beta stage.

So, I will wait for SP1 to be released before I give it another go.

I've had to reinstall the space navigator driver a number of times.. every time I even update my ati video drivers, the space navigator craps out. (I can tell when it's lights don;t come on after boot.)

Also the latest ati drivers did NOT kill the SN this last time.

I'd just reinstall the spacemouse driver after installing poser pro, and see if that resolves the issues between them.

Way too many people take way too many things way too seriously.
