Hi Dean,
Yes, you can get Mimic to work with any model, not just Poser. However, it's important to understand how Mimic works.
Mimic tells specific morph files how to change to match the audio. Those morph files all together make up what's called a DMC file (DAZ Morph Controls). They are shapes that the mouth makes during the pronunciation of vowels and consonants.
So, if you have a model that doesn't have a prebuilt set of DMC files, you need to create your own for use with the program. It takes awhile but is worth the effort if you are going to be doing some serious animation because manually adjusting morphs to match audio is a slow road to insanity.
The documentation will cover how to do that.
DAZ does have a collection of free DMC files for many of their characters, including some of the free ones.

Hi Mark,
Thanks for your fast reply.
Ill take a look at the DMC files included with the plugin, this all new to me and would of liked a novice tutorial to get me started, once I know what has to be done, I
ll be fine.
I am very serious regarding my animation, I`ve searched for months to a good solution for lip-sync, when this came up I jumped at the chance, it all sounded great!
The docs I have seem to cover using mimic for carrara once a poser model is loaded, I guess I need to look into how mimic works more.

Ive been at this for days now, it
s all down to morph targets in carrara. now I had a reply from Daz support after another 2 day:
The link for the pdf for Mimic Pro for Carrara is on the product page.
http://www.daz3d.com/store/item_file/5683/Mimic_Pro_Carrara_User_Guide.zip
Essentially, Mimic requires the use of a .dmc file (DAZ MIMIC Configuration). This is provided for all of our main figures. If you are using your own figure, then you will need to create a .dmc file. The user guide should explain how to do this.
Ive been through this manual and I hit dead ends, after creating a test morph, I follow instuction in gestures and can
t find Miscellaneous Data sub-listings.
Before that, I get no Master Clips.
I still say that this manual is for poser set-up, the required follow throughs aren`t there.
Can any one please create a simple tutorial, starting on a model that isn`t posers, and take us through... step by step, to the point of lip movement to sound?
Well back to it, if I work this all out, then I`ll put tutorial together myself.

Hi Guys,
I
ve tryed looking for help, but can
t find much at the mo.I`ve updated Carrara to 6.2, after a few days of thought, I finally took the plunge and bought Mimic Pro for Carrara.
After downloading and installing, I expected to find a new Tab available straight away, but it seems not.
My searching took me to this PDF - http://documentation.daz3d.com/mimiccarrara/Mimic_Pro_Carrara_User_Guide_042508.pdf
It holds lots of info, I loaded in a model that came with mimic and hey tabs appear, BUT! that`s happening with pre built models, I bought this to work with any model I either create or load in, not Poser though.
I`m a novice regarding this and could do with help please peeps.
For example, if I built a model, then took it into Carrara, fully textured and boned, how on earth do I get it to talk.
I
m sure I
m not the only one wanting to know this, so please help! Thanks for reading...
