This tweak was originated for Flightsim 2004 on an average speed computer with Win XP. I received it from a friend who got it in some PC magazine. It should work for Poser as well, but I have not tried it yet.

Flightsim may take from 45 to 3 minutes to start on a computer, depending on the speed.

Take the following steps:

1. Convert to NTFS if you are on FAT 32 file system.
2. Disable last file access stamping:
       In the command prompt type:  FSUTIL BEHAVIOR SET DISABLELASTACCESS 1
       To convert back:  FSUTIL BEHAVIOR SET DISABLELASTACCESS 0

    Reboot computer.

3. Increase file system cache:
       Perform the following:
       Go to Control panel / System / Advanced / Settings / Advanced / Memory usage
       Change from programs to System cache.

    Reboot computer.

    Load Flightsim 2004 and exit when completely loaded.

    Wait for all disk activity to stop.

    Reload Flightsim 2004.

    IT LOADS IN SECONDS.

My system was Pentium II
1 GB Ram
128 MB RAM Display
40 GB HDD IDE

It changed from 2 minutes loading to 35 seconds.

I take no responsibility for what this teak may cause on other computers. It appears that the system loads some files in the cache and thereafter everything loads faster. Flightsim is also loading slower as the installed contents increased.
