well first make sure the clothing is designed for the particular figure. Then make sure that if you have morphed the figure than you have to be able to morph the clothes to match. If you can't morph the clothes then they won't fit.
When I first started poser, I thought conform meant the clothes would match the poser person Iconformed them to but it doesn't. All conform means is that they move with the poser person when you re-pose him or her.
You can make various parts of your poser person invisible in the heirachy editor. I think it is in windows part of poser top sort of to the left a bit.
Now if the clothes are designed for the poser person and still problematic, if you ahve poser 7 you can use morphing brush. oh I see you have poser 5 - well it's magnets then. You can by a set of magnets here from William The Bloody in the MP.
