Switching within Poser itself - wouldn't know how to do that without the Alt key.
Something that might work: start Poser under Windows, organize the layout the way you want it (including using the Alt key to change orientation), save it as your preferred state. The result ends up in the file "Poser UI prefs_.xml". In Poser 5/6 you'll find this file in /Runtime/prefs, in Poser 7/Pro you'll find it under Documents and Settings//Application Data/Poser 7 (or Poser Pro)

It might be possible to hand edit the file, but it's fairly large, and I don't know which elements contain the data for the orientations in the different rooms.

The pen is mightier than the sword. But if you literally want to have some impact, use a typewriter
