the site somehow disabled or deleted the download manager function in an older copy of
netscape that I sometimes used on a machine with no firewall, meaning said browser can no
longer complete any downloads from any site, including this one.  I know said browser is not
supported, but haven't the foggiest how it managed to rewrite the browser code, somewhat like
a worm.  IMVHO a firewall is mandatory if the new site software is trying to rewrite the client's
browser modules, or other client-side software.

otherwise, on a more secure machine with hardware and software firewalls, the site software
hasn't been able to do any damage to my other browsers (explorer, safari, firefox), although
of course the html editor (reply box) doesn't work properly in any of them.
