Here's an easy way to check ...

Load a scene with multiple copies of the same object (sidewalk) with a texmap used on 1 object only.
Save the scene as "Test1.pz3"
 
Now apply the same texmap to the other objects. so that multiple copies of the texmap are used in the scene and then ...
Save the  scene as "Test2.pz3"

Now compare the size of the Test1 and Test2 files ... are they the same or is Test2 larger?

I didn't realise textures were stored in the pz3 file. I though it was just path and filename which would be entered for every material that used a texture no matter how many repeats. In which case any difference would depend on the length of the path/filenames.
