Subject: How to change color of a layer?

Press D to get default Black and White (foreground and background colors).

Click on bottom layer and press ALT+BACKSPACE to fill it with foreground color (black)

Click on top layer and press CTRL+BACKSPACE to fill it with background color (white)

You can change color to any other of course by clicking on foreground or background.

X will swap the background and foreground.
