Would it bother me if Poser went up in price? Yes. Im sure it would bother most of the people here. Poser is a niche product, and as such it is competitively priced. If Poser 5 attempted to replicate Max or Lightwave, why the hell would I pay its inflated price tag? Lightwave and Max have been around for years, and they are established high-end 3D modelling and animation programs.
