Six inches long with a honey coloured coat Dotty-Dot punches seriously above her weight. Our eight month old GUINEA PIG either has super powers we are unaware of, or a death wish.

Hearing a ruckus in the back yard I went out to find a GERMAN SHEPARD trying to get into her cage. It was jumping at the cage and barking. It was snarling and biting at the wire.
Unlike her three sister who ran like hell for the cover of their house Dot stood firm She hissed and spat at the dog and refused to budge.

Okay, so there was wire between her and dog, but I would still like to see one of us face up to something a hundred times our side that wanted us dead and see how brave we are. 

Some time heroines come in a fur coat.

@tom271. You have a great little pig there.  He sounds like he has a lot of common sense. When in doubt, run like hell.

We have 14 Guinea pigs here. The boys are, Elvis, Preston P, Nutmeg, Captain Jack (CJ), Saigon, Paddy, Bit and Balean. The girls are Blue, Nudge, Mooshie-Moosh, Dante, Korea and our little tough nut Dotty-Dot. 

My Parents have 6 Guinea Pigs. So as you can see, around here we LUVS THE PIGS.   

that's great....  I love these guys too...   unfortunately he is alone...  I can not get him a partner at this stage of the game...   I fear they will fight... 

I love the sounds they make.  Sound like little video games.  So it comforts the geek in me.

Greg is a male...   I am afraid with the new one they might hurt each other.....   Are you sure they will stop fighting      Greg has been a loner for some years now,,,  they are very territorial..   I'm asking because you seem to know from handling a lot of pigs.. 
   

Your Dotty-dot,  She is cute and very brave...   She might be the leader of the pack...   I hope you play with her often...  all of them in fact..    

Being an older male, and having been on his own for so long, he may not take to company. All of our males were less than 12 months old when they were put in with others.

About the only thing I can think of is create an area with a wire divide so Greg has one side and another pig has the other side. This way hopefully he will get use to having another pig around. After a while you can try putting them in together. They will still fight but hopefully it wont last long. Otherwise just leave them in their own side. They can see each other so they still have company.

I play with all of my LITTLE PEOPLE every day. It amuses the hell out of my wife watching me lay on the lawn with them.

My wife was talking to the friend of ours that gave us our first Pigs. She was saying that she has placed older males in together and they are like the younger ones. After a couple of days they settle down. Even that is not as bad as it sounds because after a couple of energetic scuffles they tend to move away and chitter at each other. They will try and prove they are the dominant one occasionally but like I said earlier, a couple of days should have them fine with each other.

The other thing is, even Pigs born and raised together act like an old grumpy married couple. I would also recommend NEVER put three in together because the most dominant two will gang up on the third and stop it from getting food. .  

well I feel a little more encouraged to buy another older male.  

The habitat is L 3" x  W 2.5" X H 1.0" feet.  I guess I have room to split it in half..  just hate to cut Greg's space if it does not work out...  I don't have room for another environment... still thinking about it..  What's that under Dotty-Dot.?  tomato ?

Yes. Our Pigs LOVE cherry tomatos. Our oldest female will tear the bowl apart for broccoli and you have to count your fingers with the younger Pigs when putting the corn in. They will take it out of my hand.

Dotty-Dot and her sisters LOVE mandarins. It  is great entertainment watching them when there is mandarin in the bowls. The girls cage has two bowls and the mandarin will be placed in only one, and on the bottom. Those little girls will walk around each one with their paws on the side and their faces buried in the food trying to sniff out which one has it. 

I don't know if you have been told this but NEVER give Pigs potato. It will kill them.

*No I never heard that one,, I did feed it to him a few times only,,,, but never again...   his favorites are apples, strawberries, bananas, carrots, watermelon,,,  and his main thing is green lettuce leaves,, Thanks for the heads up....  *

I loved my Guinea Pigs. I had one that was born with a nice solid brown coat of fur and with his big ears he reminded me of a mouse. So I named him Mouse. Now anyone with pigs, knows how much chatter and squealing they do. But I think sometimes a name can be prophetic and he was my only guinea pig who never made a peep. He was always quiet as a mouse.
