NURSING? I thought you were leaving to work for a global secret intelligence agency like the CIA or something. With your supernatural googling skills and ability to find stuff, I figured you must be a great detective or super sleuth.
All the time I thought you were a Sherlock Holmes for the 21st century, you've been working on becoming the Florence Nightengale for the 21st century!
We'll miss seeing you a lot around here, but real-life takes priority over fun! Dozens of regulars have faded over the past six to eight months and it seems you'll join those ranks for similiar reasons. Good luck!

Be well, Acadia.
So..........perhaps you'll be in a psych ward, sitting behind plexiglas, and handing out medications, eh? Well in that case, you'll need to be sure to list your 4 years of experience in here on your resume when you apply for the job. That'll be sure to stand you in good stead when you go in for your job interview. Personnel types are always greatly impressed by people who can demonstrate that they've already had extensive experience working in the same type of job environment.
Well all right!!!
Congrats!

Acadia, you have helped to smooth the path for so many people here, we know how much you care for others... and it's great that you should give higher priority to yourself for a while. An extra 60 hours a month for the next six months sounds like very hard work - but you can do it. We all wish you well, and look for your coming... to tell us when you have your licence for 2009!

Acadia, congratulations! I never knew you were a nurse. I got very close to the nurses here when my mother was in the hospital for years, I have never met such generous people. I should of guessed your profession just by watching how tirelessly and selflessly you help all the people here. Best of luck to you, and all of my good wishes :-)

Congratulations and best wishes. It's good to know that good things do still happen for good people!
Thanks everyone! hugs
I'm a bundle of nerves right now; excited and terrified all at the same time.
Taking 4 years off of nursing is not the same as taking 4 years off an office job. I deal with peoples' lives and they depend on me to know my technical skills but more importantly to be able to observe them for any change in their health. So needless to say I'm feeling quite rusty.
I was assured today that once I'm finished the back to work program that I will not be thrown to the wolves. I will get as much orientation as I feel I need and I'll have some sessions with a clinical resource nurse to go over some of the technical stuff, like IV insertion and the pumps. So that made me feel loads better.
I swear I'm going to have Renderosity withdrawals! But it's not like I won't be here, just not "living" here as I have been.

Oh wow, I didn't know that the secret service has a back to work-program... This is good news!! We will surely miss you (secretly I call you "the brain" ) but on the other hand I wish you a good start and most of all satisfaction from your work!!

Acadia, good luck. It is great to hear things are turning around for you. You will be missed here of course, but now so many more people will benifit form your caring personality. And who knows, you may end up taking care of a 'rosity resident some time.

Take care and remember that no one watches your license like you do. Been an R.N. for a long time and retired but I know what you're saying about the money...lol
You will be great. Once you hit the floor again it will all come back, patient's don't change just the way we take care of them. You go! And don't forget to take time out every once in a while for yourself.

I've been through a great deal over the last 4 years. I think my experiences and my ability to relate to a large number of things based on personal experience will only make me better at the job.
And the money!!! OMG! I can't wait to actually get a real pay cheque again! I'm tired of living on 60% of what I was making 4 years ago, minus almost 20% of that in income tax. My disability pension is not indexed with inflation so while everything around me has gone up in price (my rent by $250.00 per month in the last 3 years), It's gotten harder and harder to make ends meet. I think I'm going to feel like I won the lottery when I get my first pay cheque!! LOL

Ah damn!
Acadia, now what will I do without your heads up to the free items? While I am certain you don't know this, you have been a real big help to me on more than one occasion, I cannot tell you how much I shall miss you Acadia. Although I do envy you, being able to return to work.
I'm still about a year year and half away from doing so.
Yours,
Daidalos

Taking "Just do it" to a whole new level!
I had my information session today. By the sounds of things it will still be a couple weeks before I actually start working in this "work trial" because the person they need to meet with at the hospital where I'll be working is on holidays until next week.
I'm eager to start working on my hours, so if they hear of something else I can do in the meantime they will get me into it, otherwise not for a couple of weeks.
The nice thing is that this will give me experience in an area where I haven't been able to get hired in before because of the "catch 22" of needing experience but can't get hired into the position to gain experience. So it will open up my prospects some more. Right now I have been working in acute medicine and surgery, which is really physically demanding and it's been taking it's toll on my back, so I'd like to stay in nursing but do something more on the intellectual side rather than at the patient's beside and clinical research has always interested me. So we'll see where it leads. So I guess you're stuck with me for a couple more weeks!
Bagginsbill has given me access to his website so that I can set up a bookmarks section that I can easily update it as needed instead of having to maintain an ongoing forum thread. So I'm going to try and get those done, but it will be slow going. I injured my neck and shoulder at the gym and have been going to the chiropractor and haven't been able to sit at the computer for very long. Bending my arm to type causes it to go completely numb. But I'll do my best to get them done. Most of it will be just copy/pasting.

You have been a BIG help in the Poser Community with your advice, tips and not to mention Tutorial leads (both here in Threads and other sites), and I have learned a lot from both you Bagginsbill and the rest of the community.
I wish you luck on your journey to a rewarding, and prosperous work return and also wish you success and happiness in the future, as you have so much deserve it. :thumbupboth:

I'm not gone yet! hehe And when I am, I won't really be gone-gone, just here less, at least until I can get back and settled into my job. I can't be cured of my poser and Renderosity addiction that easily! LOL Besides, I love you guys!!!
When I was working I still found lots of time to get on the computer. It's just that this work trial and the back to work program are going to be a major shock to my body and it will take me time to adjust to having to get up early 5 days a week and be out and active in the community for a full work day.
And I'll still be into Poser. It's a nice way to relax and unwind.

You guys will have to learn to get along with out me, because I'm leaving! :woot:
Well, not really, but I will be here much less.
I'm renewing my nursing license this week in preparation of a back to work program at the end of August. But I'm racing against the clock. I don't currently have enough nursing hours to renew my license for 2009, and I have to get 368 more nursing hours in before the end of December or I forfeit my nursing license and have to take a year long refresher course.
My contact at the long term disability insurance company just called me. She pulled some strings to get me into some kind of work trial where I'll be doing sit down work recording stats and patient information from clinical trials. It will be in the medical records and I won't have any patient contact, which is fine by me at this point, LOL, but the important thing is the hours I do work there, while being volunteer hours (my insurance will continue to pay me), the hours will count towards my qualifying hours.
So I'm going to have to find a way to juggle this work trial full time, while doing a back to work program and continuing to get to the gym at least 3 times per week, and if that isn't enough I may have to sign on with a temp agency and pick up some physically lighter shifts on a psych ward, which isn't so bad. If I work the locked unit which is for violent offenders who are deemed insane and not able to stand trial, I get to sit behind a plexiglass window my whole shift and hand out medications!
So while I've lived "here" for the last 4 years and have become a fixture, I'll still be around, just not as much.
But I finally see the finish line. It's been a long haul to get to this point with a whole lot of lows and even more lows, and finally hitting rock bottom where I felt I would never get my life back to what it was. But I'm not a quitter and with the help of a lot of supportive people, and a very understanding and helpful insurance company, things are starting to finally fall into place for me.
