Ok, i downloaded the Alien Dropship from Vanishing Point, and also got the textures for it.
However, the textures, for some reason, do not want to apply to the model.
What program allows you put textures on models?

Not everything has a MAT pose :)  Below is the relevant information from the readme file included with the textures.
Please take a few minutes to read the info below, it WILL save you time later.

This zip only contains textures if you want the Poser mesh:

Visit Vanishing Point at:

http://www.vanishingpoint.biz/freestuff.asp

Look for the Goodies Page Link.

=============================
Material Placements:

These files should be placed in

:runtime:textures:Aliens

example useage:

P5 c:program filesCurious LabsPoser 5runtimetexturesAliens
P4 C:Program FilesMetaCreationsPoserruntimetexturesAliens

Then you'll be able to use Numanoids MAT file.

SET OBJECT COLOR TO WHITE FOR EACH MATERIAL!

Olive        ---> sparky_olive.jpg
White        ---> sparky_white.jpg
Black        ---> sparky_black.jpg
Silver        ---> sparky_silver.jpg
Glass        ---> sparky_glass.jpg
preview     ---> not used
Red        ---> not used
Hatch        ---> sparky_hatch.jpg
So for a typical Windows DAZ|Studio installation, the files should go in
c:Program FilesDAZStudiocontentRuntimetexturesAliens
In Daz Studio, open the Surfaces Panel and select the appropriate shader / material, as listed above, and apply the approprate texture to the diffuse colour. There will ce a button below Diffuse Colour (or Color|Diffuse aas its now called), click on it , choose "browse" from the dropdown list, and navigate to where you put the textures.

So for the "Olive" material/shader, apply the "sparky_olive.jpg" texture and so forth as listed above in the extract from the readme.

Once all the textures are applied to the right material you can save this as a DAZ|Studio Material preset. Open the content panel, find an approprate place to save it , click on the "Add to Library" button at the bottom (the left of the 2 small ones) and choose "Materials Preset" and save it. You should be able to reapply the textures with the preset.

PS the editor seems to stip out backslashes from paths for some bizzare reason.

thank you so much.never would have thought to use the Surfaces tool. you also answered a question that i was wondering about: how to save things that i modify into the library.

Thanks again.
