For animators, check the link below.
Attention : Sensual, but not sexual.

Animation at its best (as I have seen) looked at it a couple of times tot find all the details, but I keep finding new ones.
The facial expressions, the hair, the fire, the smoke, some moves, some very detailed, very well made, whaw !

FAR more entertaining then almost anything on MTV these days. So they are video game cut scene clips? They're still good clips, and very well edited together.

Toss in a rockin 80's song, and I'm Sooooo there!

Way too many people take way too many things way too seriously.

Did you get all the cookies that came with it? Interesting how much crap they try to put on your system...lol
I block them and accept as I see fit. Might want to check your system if you don't block.

I like it. I mean, it's not extremely realistic but the movements are smooth, I like the way the girls can grab clothing and I do like the song. Again, there is better animation out there but this is still up there with the rest of them. I know I couldn't achieve that level of sophistication with the knowledge I have right now, I have been using Poser for over two years and I'm just barely scratching the surface. I am working on an animation of different Poser girls in somewhat sensual clothing and movement throughout the video to some sexy jazz music. Again, nothing to write Pixar about but I'm trying. I have been working on this for a year now, it's taking me long because of other personal and family commitments. I'm half way there, with me luck.

vilters, you haven't seen Dead Fantasy? Watch it and yours will be put to shame.
And guess what, he used poser in this one.

Passion is anger and love combined. So if it looks angry, give it some love!

Reisormocap ( ) posted Thu, 31 July 2008 at 12:04 PM

I thought the Videogame Babes one was very well edited together. And I mean, come on, if you're not bopping along to the beat of "My Sharona" - well, you may want to check to make sure you still have a pulse.

Videogame cut scenes typically have a lot more resources in terms of software and person-hour thrown at them than are available to the hobbyist or indie animator.

It might be an interesting challenge to see if the video could be redone using Poser. I'm willing to bet that it can.

The Dead Fantasy one is also very well done and has some great animation there. It really shows what Poser is capable of in terms of character animation.

the best i have seen was a short that someone did for the Chris Brown concert unfortunately they took it down from UTube he said it was done in Poser

You might as well PAY attention, because you can't afford FREE speech

I like it. I mean, it's not extremely realistic but the movements are smooth,

why is it that so many animators use a constant rate of speed on all body parts through long movements?

why don't more people create varying dynamics more often?
if i  was to peel open my jacket and shed it to the floor , while moving my head and eyes from  downward glance to looking at the camera,  i would jerk my head and dart my eyes up quickly,  and the arm movement of openeing the coat will take a longer time to progress thru to the end.  and also my arms will move slowly  to reach up to the coat and grab it,  but my arms will yank the coat open and pull it aside at a faster speed

I am certainly no expert, God knows,  but I do know what reality looks like, and 90% of the animations I see have this constant drawn out rate of speed for all body movements, as if the characters are under water.

I am sure my first animations SUCK, but I am going to try to alter speeds and create real movement dynamics.

Ok, well let's see it. Your right about the movements in real life but that's a real challenge to get those translated over to animation! I think we need to remember for those of us (like me) who only do this as a hobby, we don't have much time to study movements but I think most do try their best to get it close to reality. I can tell you from experience that I have had a heck of a time trying to get realistic movements out of my poser animations. I am getting better but I don't get much time to practice either and that's what it takes, lots and lots of practice.

notice the cuts every half-second or so.  this is a very bad sign concerning
them and their target audience.  the video babes is not the worst nostril-
glow giant-boobed zombie flick I have ever seen, given that most nostril-glow
giant-boobed zombie renderers can't do animations, hence I've got nothing to
compare it with here.  it's not as good as poser/3d flicks I've seen at porno sites.
no names, please.

I recall the chris brown thing.  it was well-done, given that the guy had only six
weeks to do the 5-minute clip.  however, IIRC he used the P4 renderer.

hear hear...there's some damn good stuff at that other "R" place....  very realistic animation....the porn folks are a dedicated bunch

i liked it it was nice
for good animation i like
beowulf, anything by zemeckis, but also the first final fantasy and the intro clips to WOW
of course those are high budget things.  final fantasy was not the best show ever or anything but i watch it a lot (love that color)
there's a japanese guy i used to like who did an incredibly realistic female, normal and vampire version, that had an interview with the character that was amazing.  can't remember who now though

go that way really fast.

Give me a break with the complaints, I'd like to see ANYONE here make ANYTHING close to an animation of that quality. The video is a compilation of clips from the Dead or Alive video game series, and when actually viewed in-game instead of in that slightly choppy captured video, you can't help but be impressed. Don't whine about the video just because you're personally tired of seeing sexy CG women.

I have heard that Dead Fantasy was not animated in Poser but that the characters were all remade by the series' creator and animated in a higher-end program. Not sure if that's entirely true or not, but it is still very impressive.

Excuse me, but the OP did say "Animation at its best". I'd hardly agree, but if it gets the little fanboys off...

Sean, I've seen your insane pro-Mike rants at DAZ; you'd complain about the quality of a joint animation collaboration between Pixar and Dreamworks if it had sexy women in it.

Exactly, especially when you know how it was built. This wasnt done as soundtrack-first-then-animation. This was a one-shot deal in which the computer not only animated the music machine but also figured out the sound of the notes in the process and created the whole thing in one setting.

I think what the original guy was stating about the "best animation" was strickly his opinion (as I have seen) he said. Obviously when you compare to other "professionals" the best animation doesn't stack up, not even close. Everyone needs to except his level of "best", it's just an opinion and that's all. Let's stop with all the criticism now.

How about a game of chess Dr. Falcon? :oD

Not what I'd call the best animation I ever saw, but it's pretty darn good. I've seen smoother and more emotive poser animations, but with that many scenes, in the interest of time, you have to scale back somewhere.
What I was most impressed with was directing and editing.

Now that is very close to animation at it's best, it's excellent, that most have cost some countless hours of modeling, animating, timing and directing and editing. Compare this one and the one in the OP and it's easy to see that these two are worlds apart. The  World's Most Amazing Instrument is amazing indeed, while the other one is one of many you can find on youtube.

The original poster said "Animation at its best (as I have seen)", which sounds to me like it was in his opinion. I watched the World's Most Amazing Instrument, and although the work that went into it is truly breathtaking, it's not one of my favorite animations. This discussion probably shouldn't be about what's more amazing because everyone is going to have their own opinion.

Well, I left his post have its own life.
As mentioned, there are beautifull things out there.
For me, it were some details, some expressions, some moves, some are really good.
Other things are " standard".

So, question;  Who is going to show "his" or "her" work?

o.k., then, if it was just some fan-boy doing a low-quality clip-job from one of the games,
then I agree that I haven't seen anybody from this site using poser to do anything like that.
the best animations using poser so far IMVHO were those by tvining, the guy who was doing
the star-trek inspired movie.  I hope I got the name right.

I will have something to show hopefully by the end of the year. Then you all can critique my work. It won't be spectacular by any stretch of the imagination but it's what I know how to do within my limits. I dream of greater works but when you have a life there isn't much time to get real complicated. So, when I post it out on you tube be gentle.
