I didn't read everything pjz wrote in this thread, but it seems I agree with him more often than not, and what I read here, I agreed with, particularly this:

it's very sad when users here need to fear the admin team's reprisals for making a blunt, non-flattering comment.
This place already has more than enough heavy-handed moderation and censorship based on unjustified fear and paranoia (while conveniently failing largely to extend that to the MP offerings, but I digress...), and it doesn't need any more of that.
I didn't "research" the subject at hand here which originalkitten is not whining about, meaning I didn't look over the gallery, find the supposed "trolling", and look for more examples elsewhere...
So, bearing in mind my "disclaimer" here, I submit this for your collective thought:
What does it matter anyway?
Really, it's a public forum, and the second you upload something with comments turned on, you're opened up to any kind of abuse imaginable. Your mind can turn a tactless comment into a trolling flamefest at will, and subconsciously, and then you can also suddenly see it everywhere you want to find it.
Simple solution: no comments allowed. if that's not acceptable, then be prepared for the worst, and just blow it off.
You never know - this place has alot of people from alot of places, many of whom can only marginally communicate in English, and not everything is necessarily what it appears to be.
If it says on the comments thing, "both critical and non-critical comments are welcomed", you have to accept that the term "non-critical" encompasses both fawning praise AND tactless, mindless assessment.
Just because something may appear to be tactless, mindless assessment, doesn't necessarily qualify it as trolling.
Now, suppose someone simply types, "this sux"... does that qualify as trolling? Probably. Erring on the side of caution I'd say yes.
What if they said "this sux because it's not original"? is that trolling? That would seem a little less clear, to me.
In the end though, again, I ask, what does it really matter, anyway?
Feel sorry for someone who is genuinely trolling the galleries, revel in the fact he's probably some mutant slug who has so little a life he's reduced to renderosity gallery trolling for entertainment, or whatever else, but in the big scheme of things, it matters so little it's not even worth getting upset over. if your art is good, people will see that, and the troll's comments mean nothing. if your art is good and you know it, the trolls comments shouldn't do anything but amuse you. Wear it as a badge of honor, parade the comments around and enjoy the laughs you can make others get out of it.
Finally, if the worst thing that happens to you all day is someone leaves a negative comment on one of your images, you're not doing too badly after all. ;-)
I wasn't addressing this directly to originakitten, just putting it out there generally.
