I've been looking through fashion magazines at photo shoots and advertisements, but not just at the pictures. I look at the elements in the picture such as the lighting and shadows, placement or pose of the main element or figure, maybe the odd prop or placement of props, and then set out to recreate those elements to a certain degree.

I don't often get inspired by music, though I was hit with mega inspiration while listening to Metallica and it resulted in my "Unforgiven II" image which I'm pretty happy with.

Also a holiday or celebration or a contest will spark my neurons. I'm already gearing up for Halloween again!  LOL I can't wait for some Halloween contests to start. I think I entered all of them last year and even got an honourable mention at Sixus1.

I also love to do dedications to people either "just because" or because they have shown me some extra kindness, or have gifted me with something.

Movies also will give me the odd idea, but not often.

Trying to learn something is also hugely inspirational.  I've been working more with lighting, and recently discovered volumetric lighting (great stuff!!!)

Moments in history are also great for inspiration.  Capturing the look of a gold medalist, the sadness in the face of a mother whose child has died, the giggles of a small child when a butterfly lands on her hand, etc.

"It is good to see ourselves as others see us. Try as we may, we are never
able to know ourselves fully as we are, especially the evil side of us.
This we can do only if we are not angry with our critics but will take in good
heart whatever they might have to say." - Ghandi
