I thought there was some kind of a trick where you get a polygon sphere place it at the hip to make the hip bend correctly.
There is, but I wonder if anyone has discovered how to make this useful when a figure is wearing clothing? I found that this method removes the ability of the thighs to affect the ‘skirt’ part. Unless someone has some answers, I'd suggest sticking to mudane rigging (which is hard enough.)
The only way we could get characters to look right was buy making multiple charters one standing, one setting ect ect and we didn't have morphs back then so we tweaked the mesh one vertices at a time.
I’ve heard that the pros still use the multiple-model approach for posing characters in major motion pictures, despite the superior rigging of top-end software.
