You have to conform the clothing to V3.  Select the clothing, make sure it is selected as BODY, go to figure, conform, conform to the V3.

Adjustments may be required.

Parenting merely moves a prop with the parent.

Conforming, in simple terms, makes the figure wear the clothing.
