Subject: Poser 7, Vista, PNG files and Victoria 4.2 not working

Leonardis ( ) posted Mon, 20 October 2008 at 5:17 AM · edited Sat, 30 November 2024 at 5:02 PM

Forgive me for lumping two issues in one post, but I hope someone might kindly come up with an answer.

First: After upgrading to Poser 7, using Vista 64 bit, my "old" png files from pose files saved in Poser 6 show up fine in Poser 7. But since then everytime I install a new product or new morphs the Png file does not show. I just get the (usual) question mark, as though poser 7 cannot find the png. but it is there. How come the old png icons show but the new ones don't?

Second: After a break from using V4 (been using V3 and prefer it) I thought I'd re-install V4 into Poser 7. I have the standard textures and base morphs PLUS the Morphs++ for V4.2 from DAZ. I sincerely hope these morphs are not meant to be showing as I suspect they are and that I've made some sort of mistake but when I click on "INJ Morphs ++" they do not show in the parameters window. There appears not to be a "global" loading of body and face morphs in the same way that V3 morphs load, where you can load the lot or load them by groups (muscularity, legs, torso etc etc).

Furthermore, if I click on several Morph++ morphs the parameter dials ONLY LOAD UP ONE MORPH at a time!! I cannot get more than one morph loaded. This is ridiculous. I really hope it is something I failed to do when installing because if this is how it is, it is just not acceptable.

In the morph list there are blank spaces where it says DAZ+. What are Daz up to here? Why don't the morphs load in one long list as they do in V3?

Thanks for any illumination.

Oops, forget the Png issue. I just spotted that the preferences in Poser had "use text if folders exceed 100". Unticking this now shows the png previews.

However, the V4.2 morphs are not working at all. I did run the .bat file which I believe initialises the pz2 files. All the deltas and pz2's appear to be in the right folders. It is not made clear whether I can run the "Base" morphs and ++ Morphs at the same time or whether I have to REM the base ones first. IN any case I tried all combinations. There is something wrong here. I see that in the Pose folder for V4 there are grouped morphs but these are not appearing the the Poser 7 V4 pose section, nor is now any individual morph having the slightest affect on the figure.

Clearly V4.2 is not installed properly. I've now uninstalled and re-installed three times and no difference. It's a waste of time trying again until I know what's going wrong. Any help on this would be gratefully received.

Thank you.

By chance do you have V4.2 installed into an external runtime? She needs to be installed to the main Runtime folder inside poser 7 in order for her to work.

Hi Pagan Artist,

Thanks for helping. I have it installed to Poser 7's main runtime. I'm pretty sure it is in the right place because the main structure is similar to V3 and M3, and although I have other runtimes v4 installed itself to C;Poser and all the expected folders are showing up in C:Poser 7Runtimeetc etc

Here is the structure I see for V4 4.2. If you see anything missing or in the wrong place please let me know:

V4 obj files are in Poser 7runtimegeometries (same as V3)

In Poser 7 runtimelibrariespose there is a DAZ! folder with Michael 3, Victoria 3, V4 and V4 to V3 main folders.

** Inside that V4 folder it is completely different from the V3 structure, where everything is arranged under two folders: Head and Body.
**
In the V4 structure there is a long line of folders all named with the individual body and face parts, inside of which are pz2 files. Also in the list of folders is BODY, bodyMorphs, Head, DELTAS and not in a dedicated folder are various other what look like grouping and heading pz2 files.

In the  V4++ DELTAS folder I notice there are very few large delta pz2 files. Those that are there are FBM like "young" or "pearfigure" ; the rest are small PBM deltas.

In poser 7 V4.2 loads fine. The MAT textures load ok. The base morphs seem to load and the v4++ INJ icon causes about a ten second hard disc loading. As I say eariler, only ONE morph loads at a time. But it doesn't work. In fact the only morph that works is a base morph "Male".

Thanks in anticipation of any help anyone can give!

DAZ is trying to organize the morph dials better for logical groupings.  AB Graphix has a similar arrangement for V3 and SP3 which I think is a little better.  Just make sure when you install V4.2  that all Poser files install during the installation wizard.

May I just check something with you, if only to eliminate a possible explanation?

Before you run Inj Morphs++ V4, do your V4.2 Body Parameters look exactly like the attached? (Ignoring Elite and Aiko 4 if you do not have them). If so, I'll just go back to sleep...

But if the Morphs++ 'containers' are missing, then the update script that you ran after the Morphs++ install probably did not do its job, and V4.2 is not set up to accept the Morphs++ injection.

That looks correct.  As a matter of fact, I ran into a situation the other day when I wanted to inject Morphs++ into V4.2 and found a similar morph dials configuration.  I thought the files were not loaded.  After reinstallation, I looked in the Pose section of the library and found the Victoria 4 folder which contained the inject/Rem files for the morphs.  The exact sequence is:
Poses>DAZ'S Victoria 4>Morph Injections.  The Morph Injections folder contains the icons:
INJ Morphs++ V4 and REM Morphs++ V4.  (Had to crack open Poser 7 for the link sequence)
Following this link should populate your Morph++ Dials.
