The Elite textures don't use the basic DAZ Studio shader - they include the Human Surface Shader by Omnifreaker, which has very different settings and properties.

If you are getting very poor results with the Elite textures, make sure that the HSS was installed correctly - when you view one of the skin materials in the Surfaces plaette it should tell you which shader is applied near the top of the palette.
