also, does anyone know how convert objects from .3dmf format to a useable format for poser6?

Import the 3dmf into a modeling application (I use Carrara or Blender), select all parts (or all that you want to use in Poser, anyway...), "Group" all selected parts, export as Wavefront obj (or 3ds).
The item should then import into Poser, and be usable as a prop.
